The Resource Center consists of two sections, a public seciton and a members only section.
The information presented in the Resource Center is specific to the service of legal process in the State of Washington. It is a compilation of court decisions from the three Courts of Appeal and the state Supreme Court, statutes from the Revised Code of Washington, and court rules as promulgated by the state Supreme Court. The material presented here was chosen for its specific applicability to questions relating to the service of legal process.
This site may be useful to professional process servers, private investigators, legal support staff, attorneys, and the general public.
Use the search function to locate cases by using words relevant to the situation in which you are interested. All of the documents in this system have been full text indexed to make searching fast and easy. Search for more than one word or phrase by separating the words or phrases with a comma. For instance, the search criteria (the quotation marks are used only to clarify this explanation) "legal process" will return all documents containing that phrase. However, the search criteria "legal,process" will return all documents containing both the word "legal" and the word "process".
As with any area of law, service of process is always in a state of flux and change. Therefore additional materials will be added on a regular basis.
Note that some court decisions have been given the same description. They are different cases but cover the same basic issue. There is an important point to be made here. Service of process is highly "fact specific." The Court may rule 180 degrees different based on a difference in the facts of the cases. To assist the user all court decisions have been summarized and are then presented in their entirety.
